Cheaper alternative to Woodsmans Pal?

Anyone know of a cheaper alternative to a woodsman's Pal? I'd like something that I could keep in the car for an emergency, but the Woodsman's Pal seems a tad on the pricey side...

you could of course just get a regular old machete...that is all it really is but with the bonus hook that wouldn't be really that useful as far i can see. you can do all of the chopping etc with a normal machete.
 
I have a WP and you are right it is over priced. And heavy. And the hook is worthless. And the sheath is garbage. Just buy a machete and forget you ever heard of a WP. Just my opinion.
 
I'd go with either a machete or a martindale golok. Either one would be alot cheaper and just as functional, IMO.

can't go wrong with a machete or light-duty kukri (15" range).
 
I second the Martindale Golok if on a budget, or a 15" kukri if you care to spend more.
