Well like the title says I am looking for some advice on buying a cheaper Kershaw. I just found out that my friend can get Kershaw knives at the wholesale price due to his work. I would like to stay under $80 retail price (not wholesale). I am open to anything at the moment, fixed blade, folder, auto, non-auto, etc. I just am looking for some advice on which ones you all would recommend as a second Kershaw. I currently only own a Leek 1660BR.

It all depends on what you intend to use it for!

Doh! Looks like I forgot to put that, sorry.

I am looking at either something for EDC or one for hunting/hiking/fishing. I have no real purpose for looking to get a new knife but those are my main uses for the knives I have.

WOW...under $80 bucks? Especially wholesale?!...Not a whole lot you can't get from Kershaw. Personally I own a; Leek, Scallion, a few Chives, a Blur, a Needs Work, and the fabled Crown. All FANTASTIC knives for the price and have never had a regret about a single one! particularly the Crown!! You could get 6 of them for $80 bucks, and use them for screwdrivers and prybars!! Then just throw them away! (or send them to me =) )

Try a RAM or Blur for something different from your leek, skyline is another popular one similar to the leek imo.

Or, you could step up a notch. And, purchase a ZT0350 blem from Kershawguy. They are about 85 bucks. I have two ZT knives from him that are blems, and I couldn't hardly find the blems on them. They both functioned flawlessly. Very much worth the money.

Try the Rake, with it's composite blade and the large belly that it has, it might be a good skinning knife.

I was seriously debating it but I noticed he said the blems don't come with the warranty. I know it's not that big of a deal but personally I would rather buy from my friend and have it not be a blem. I'm not dogging Kershawguy at all. It is just personal preference really.

I think everyone should own a Blur, a Leek and a Skyline but I don't think that they'd fit your needs. My vote then is also for the Junkyard Dog 2 composite. The Rake is nice also but I think the JYD has a better blade shape for general use.

Well I emailed him about the JYD 2 Composite and he said they are backordered over at Kershaw and it could be up to a few months. Let the waiting game begin haha.
