Hey Guys,

What is the cheapest benchmade model that has an axis lock? I own several other benchmades but not an axis lock. I'd really like to try out an axis lock and see how I like it. I looked on benchmade's website and the cheapest I could find was around $150+.

Are there any axis lock models in the $50-$80 range?

Thanks in advance,
bjordan

Griptillian - 440c blade in drop point or sheepsfoot, 2 sizes, mini or reg. from between $60 - $80 pending on how well you shop. Some other variants, tanto blade, D2 or Ritter S30V all costing a touch more. The Grips have a very good rep around here.

The 530 pardue, cheaper than the Griptillian.

Good knife, but not great. The Grip is a better buy.

Sorry for my english :o

I am currently using Benchmade 550 Griptillian as an EDC ( For work) and I am very satisfied with it. According to the Benchmade 2005 catalog "It's a new species of knife, and represents the AXIS entry level in Benchmade style".

Even in Canadian $'s it's a good buy and apparently the more expensive version in S30V(RitterGriptilian) and the D2 model from Cabelas are also excellent.

I just got one this week from Cabela's, it has D2 steel and is a great knife, I do like it. I was suprised at how big it was, they also have a mini-grip.

The 555 and 556 Mini-Griptilians can be had for just over $50. I'm suprised that they were not mentioned here other than just once.

I also think the 530 is a good knife. Not better than the Griptillian, but much thinner if it is for carry in a thin pair of pants or shorts. Either is nice.

Wow the 530 looks pretty sweet. I'll have to check into it as well. It might suit my carry needs better. I'm also going to look into the mini griptillian.

I need to check my knife laws and see if the spear point on the 530 will count as a dagger or dirk. It might be okay since it's clearly a folding pocket knife.

Thanks again for the info guys.

Sure several, but for only 20 more bucks you can get the Benchmade Doug Ritter RSK-Mk1 survival and everyday carry knife which will also get you a beautiful blade in CPM S30V which is a far better blade than anything else you could find in that price range.

It is also a superb looking knife:

There is also a mini-version of this folder.

I don't think you can find a better deal out there!

Good luck
