whats the cheapest place to buy lithium batteries for surefires? doesn't have to be surefire brand batteries just a cr123 lithium battery. thanks

i have occasionally found them on sale w/all the other batteries at eckerds drugs, and walmart has a deal like if ya buy 12 or so ya get 10% off or something, i usually just buy them at eckerds one at a time, they are like $3.79 normally for dura cell, might have to change, i seem to be using more and more of them, and they are high $$

For the best prices, try E-bay and candlepower.com

You can find buys in the $1.25 a battery range most of the time

eBay often has deals on 123 batteries in the $1.25-1.75 range, sometimes more, depending on the brand and someone's desperation.

www.cheapbatteries.com also has good deals on 123s, with GE-Sanyos at $2.50 ea. for two, $2.00 ea. for 12 or more, and $1.75 ea. for 48 or more.

www.zreiss.com has the same GE-Sanyos at similar prices. I bought a couple dozen earlier this year for $1.68 ea. They don't list their pricing in their website, but a quick call will get you the info you need.

Also, if cost is a bit more important than "inconvenience", inside of each 223 battery is two 123s waiting to come out. Cheapbatteries shows them at $2.00 ea. in quantities up to 100. Essentially, that's $1 apiece. Break the plastic case open, pull the metal tab off the batteries, and if there isn't a covering or insulating layer around the cell, give it a quick wrap in a thin tape. Voila, two 123s for the price of one, with five minutes of work involved.

thanks for the suggestions i'll check out the places your guys suggested. i've checked on ebay and even though they are kinda cheap after you add in like the 7 dollar shipping they aren't that cheap anymore

I think my Ebay score was only like $15 or $17 for 10 batteries shipped. Panasonic.

I thought that was pretty good.

Started keeping them in the oblong film canisters. Two fit perfectly, with no rattle.

I just got 20 panasonics for $31 shipped from eBay...I'll see how well they work, but for that price you can't really beat it.

I ordered 20 CR123's on sale for $26 :) (and a plastic kerambit) from Botach earlier this week, I think the sale's over now tho' and the 20 pack is back up to $30.

I know what kind of a rep Botach has here, but I thought a trial by fire with batteries would be a good way to see if they've improved. Or if all the bad press is still valid. :barf:

Just out of curiosity, I have not gone through my original set yet, but I do use my Surefire. Do you guys actually wait until it burns out, or do you just kinda keep an approximate count in your head and change them before you think they're going to die. I know that they're expensive, but I can always use the older ones in my Inova X5, and I'd hate for them to die on me when I need them.

how is the quality of the panasonic brand batteries?
how about toshiba? how long does it hold the white light before it turns yellow?
