Howdy gang.
While out shopping today I ran across what I think is a great deal.
Very basic "starter" survival kit.
There is a lot of room in the bag to add the real necessary items.

size is about 7 x 10 x 3 1/2
double zipper so you can open it either way.

5 bags of water (4.227 oz each)
1 light stick 12hrs yellow

survivalkit5.jpg

emergency survival blanket 84x52
emergency poncho with hood (yellow)
2 heatworks air activated hand warmers
whistle
call 911 flag (yellow)
ELFM Masks 5 (ear loop first aide mask)

Mayday emergency food rations bar
(a giant food bar, like trail bar. 2400 calories.
its vacuum sealed in foil. 18 oz USCG approved)

The case opens in the middle, left side has a pouch labeled WATER
right side is labeled FOOD
center "page" has the poncho, blanket etc.
Both left and right pockets have room for additional items
as does the main compartment.

I will add a few items as time goes on,but ASAP I will add
a basic FAK,bandages,gauze/dressing antibacterial cream etc.
There are NO first aide supplies in this thing.
I also dont see any "instructions".
I will type up a few pointers and laminate them and include them in the kit.
(that yellow food bar looked like an instruction book, but nope)

I bought 6 and will go back for a few more
for all my family/friends who will show up here
when the time comes.

Price you ask?
well

$4.95!
I found it in the Vitamin Isle at my local XXXXXX

(to avoid banishment from the forum for deal spotting
i removed the place where I bought it. if you cant figure out where I got it from by
reading the thread, message me and i gladly will tell you)

did they have more than one? i'll hit up my costco tomorrow and check. thanks!

Nice find, I would most definitely keep one in my car

What are the dimensions of the bag ?

Wish I had costco here....Id buy 10 of those things. Perfect for Koyotes "give away BOB" thread.

I dont think its deal spotting if its not an internet deal. Wonder if it is....I KNOW its not intentional though.

Great find!! A few added items, and you have a great spare BOB, or giveaway BOB on the cheap...

Good find. Just the pouch, poncho, and space blanket are worth the pesos.

I find the contents to be odd. I wonder who designed that thing.

20 oz of water? I find those packet of water thingies to be stupid. No canteen (or improvised canteen)? No water purification?
Food? Who cares. Not a survival priority for the first three weeks.
Fire? None.
Two handwarmers? Who cares.
Lightstick? Mehh.
No cordage? No tape? No wire?

Honestly, I could do better with stuff laying around my garage placed in an Ron Hood style altoids tin mini kit.

Just out of curiosity, whats wrong with spotting and sharing a good deal?

Good question
I thought the spirit of the rule was to stop guys
from promoting their own deals (ebay, web stores etc).

I did a little searching and found this from one of the moderators,

Please note that deal spotting is frowned upon in this forum. The owner of BFC also owns 1 Stop Knife Shop. By spotting deals on sites that do not pay for a dealer membership here you are taking sales away from those that do.

Now I have to put a few extra quarters in the collection plate on Sunday :)

Well, I guess it would make sense to me if it were something that 1SKS or even someone that pays for a dealer membership here sells but it's even considered a no-no for everything. So, it doesn't have to make sense to me, I don't own the joint. :D

Nice little kit. Add a few more items, fire, first aid, candle and you have the perfect little car kit.
