With the help of the Good Lord and your prayers and well wishes, we have once again cheated the Grim Reaper. No Aneurism or Stenosis was found during today's cardiac cath. The amount of radioactive dye used damaged the kidneys a skosh, so that they cut out half my medications until Creatine levels and BUN return to normal. I probably will not return to teaching until the kidneys return to normal, hopefully just a few days. Thanks to one and all for your support. :)

Glad to hear it.

I had an angiogram a number of years ago. I was apprehensive, but the cardiologist said if I didn't do it my insurance rates would go up, risk was extreemly small, etc. Well they threaded the tube up me and looked and the doc said "I wish my heart looked that good."

Then I got an infection at the insertion point in my groin with some superbug that breeds in hospitals. That wasn't fun.

Now I'm tempted to take my chances with the Grim Reaper, if only I can cheat the doctors. Mostly I try to stay out of their way.

I make an exception for NPs if I'm married to them.

You guys remind me of the old line that the new wonder drugs are so powerful you have to be in perfect health to take them.

Congratulations for fending off mortality for a while! :D

Good to hear you are doing better. Congratulations, nothing fights off the grim reaper like a well forged blade. I dont care if he's an anthropomorphism even anthropomorphisms feel a hard swung khuk.
Seriously though, all the best. Smoke from BC.

Excellent news. Smoke up from Atlanta.

Normally, the contrast media used in angiography/cardiac catheterization is a non-radioactive Iodine based material. One trade name is Renografin. Alot of people confuse it's "radio-opaque" characteristics with Isotopes.
Yes, it can be hard on the kidneys. I happen to be allergic to it, no fun.
Isotopes are used for Nuclear Medicine studies, I-131, and some others.
I am glad your exam results were so good, Jurassic.

Hope you recover quickly and continue on a path of wonderful living!!

Kidneys still slighty screwed up, but I'm home. Have to wait 3 more days without my diabetic meds before another blood test, and hopefully, a return to work. Thanks one and all for your moral support.
