To preface, the Cheburkov brand is not well known in the states. Like other Russian brands, information can be hard to come by. They DO have a website that Google can translate to english..well enough to navigate anyway. They also have a fairly regularly updated IG account, and numerous youtube videos inside their shop and offices.
Much like Shirogorov, I gather that Cheburkov has a base-line set of folding knife models which can be built with upgraded materials and custom features to give you a "custom line" of knives.
I have seen at least one anonymous person on social media with negative things to say about the brand. I prefer to form my own opinions, and this model is most definitely not a Chinese made knockoff.
I procured this one through a relatively new distributor that focuses on Russian knives. It was one of those "love at first sight" knives for me. I really wish I had the capability to make a video for it.
It was shipped in a padded zipper pouch and included a laminated certificate (completely in Russian ofcourse).
The basics: Bronze ano'd titanium frame, red lightning strike carbon fiber scaling, cool odd-faced hardware, bearings, file work on the back spacer and blade spine. The blade material is a stainless damascus. It came beautifully polished to a minor finish. Their website indicates that the blade material is "M390, Damascus". Is it legit Nichols m390 core damascus? We may never know.. but it sure looks like it.
**EDIT** With the help of a friend who speaks Russian fairly well i was able to contact the fine folks at Cheburkov to clear up some "lost in translation" facts. The regular production model of this knife comes with m390. The Al Cheburkov finished model has swedish damasteel (PMC27 & RWL34).**
So soccerdood, you were correct about one thing, even if you had to be an ass to communicate it.
Flipping action is absolutely tremendous and is accompanied by a very satisfying SSSHTHWIIICK.
Detent is mediumy strength..perfect in my estimation. It fits in my XL hand perfectly..like a natural extension of my hand. The hidden screw pocket clip is understated and smallish. It disappears when you hold it and holds well in pocket.
Overall it's a lot of fun to fondle and play with, while also being quite an eyefull. It's not going to be a hard user for me (which kind of goes against my knife philosophy but whatever).
On to some pictures...
