*NOTE: I used Imgur this time, so everything SHOULD be fine. I am SO SORRY for the pornographic-ness before. I had NO IDEA that would happen :S*
Hey guys! I just wanted to show you all something really cool and unique that I received a couple of months ago. This knife is actually made from high grade crane cable, something that I have NEVER seen anyone else do other than the maker of this one. This is by FAR the strongest AND toughest blade I have ever laid my hands on. Let's put it this way; James (the maker) dropped it on its point on some concrete and sparks shot out, something which he said had never happened to him before. There was no damage whatsoever to the blade. He said I could jam it into a tree if I wanted to.
What's interesting about this piece is that it is (I think) convex ground (or the closest thing to it). As such, it is somewhat challenging to put an edge on it (at least without power equipment). Having said that, when it DOES become sharpened, it is truly something to behold. It is also important to note that it is considerably heavy (significantly heavier than the L-6 piece it's compared to).
I was considering posting this in the custom & handmade knives section, since it is custom and handmade. If I should do that, please tell me so I know for the future
Here you can see another of James' creations - an L-6 scabbard to compare.
As you can see, it's full tang (and is it ever!) Just look at how thick the tang is on it. Now THAT'S a knife!
I was trying to show the unique forging marks on the blade with the last few pics. You can *kind of* see it in this pic.
*Please note: This is not me trying to go around advertising. I just wanted to show you guys something that I find is really really cool and unique. I am impressed with this knife; as far as I'm concerned, it is a work of art.*
