After talking about making a leg knife in this forum a couple of weeks ago, I decided to make one. It's my first slipjoint to make in a good while.

I love the old slipjoint patterns, and the Lady's Leg Knife is a classic.

The knife measures 3 1/4" closed, and a little over 5 1/2" when opened. The blade and spring are made from O1 tool steel, the bolsters are nickel silver, and the liners and pins are brass. The scales are Bark-Bone by Bruce Evans. It's weight is 2 ounces.

Enjoy. -chris

That's a beauty Chris. O-1 steel to boot...one of my favorite. I really admire your craftsmanship. What are the scales from? Perhaps you can answer a question I have had for a while. The area you would call the heel and sole, was that intended to be a bottle cap lifter? Very nice, thanks for posting it.

I've seen my share of "leg" knives but this one is by far
the nicest I've laid eyes on,mate. Well done:D :D

Thanks guys.

Loosenock - The scales are a product called Bark-Bone that is made up by Bruce Evans, a follow knifemaker in the area. They are made of cow shin bones that have been colored and stabilized.

Yes, the shoe of the leg knife was intended to be a bottle opener. Many drink companies gave out leg knives that had their logos on them. I don't believe that I left enough space behind hill of the shoe to use mine as a bottle opener.

It is a beautiful knife. Ever consider doing or have you done a congress pattern or a split-back whittler?
