I bought some rubber grommets for my Spyderco's. Whatcha think?

Can't say its to my taste, however, its different, is it easy to open them still? I woild have thought rubber grommets would increase friction and make your thumb rub.

Well, if the interior of the spyderholes wasn't beveled, and it isn't on some models, then I can see how that would be an improvement.

PLLLLEEEEAAASSSEEEE tell me more what those things are? Any links? I'm still adjusting to the "Spydie hole" as my last folder was a thumb opener.

They are called 'grommets' and used for various things but usually they go into a panel that might have sharp edges so that something can pass thru safely (wires, etc). Probably can find them at home depot, hardware store, radio shack, auto parts store? Here is a link to what they look like. You can probably even find them in tobacco stores/ head shops for your 'tobacco water pipe' ;)

Since they 'raise' the hole and are made of rubber I would believe it makes opening easier (at least for the untrained hand ;) ). COOL!

Very cool! I never thought of doing such a thing, I like the idea. Maybe you should suggest it to Spyderco head dude, Sal Glesser, as an optional feature for the knives; maybe he'd give you some sort of financial deal for your genius... it's a thought worth pursuing, I think. :) Good job!

In fact, I do find the spyderhole awkward. Not impossible, but not as deft and comfy as a thumb stud. :)

Amen, same here. Nothing to take away from Spyderco's signature design, but something "tactile" (especially in an emergency) is more reassuring. I think I'll like my Endura way better with this feature though.

Personally, I think the larger-sized holes in some models, such as in the ATR, should be the standard.

Interesting.. personally I find the spyderhole to be just as, if not more, easy to use as the trusty thumbstud. Im not just saying this because Im a loyal spyderco fan.. I carry mainly benchmades. I'd like to see a poll on spyderhole/thumbstud ease of use opinion.
