Hi all,

I love shoulder carry bags for my survival kits. Back packs and butt pack are great and work for some, but after trying out many different types of bags for carrying my gear.

I have come to like the shoulder type of carry the best for me.

I am always on the look out for sling bags and saw one that really caught my eye.

It is called the Noatak gearslinger by Maxpedition.

Here is a pic of it next to my Sitka and my Kodiak gearslinger packs that I have. it is the small pack on the right in the pic.

The pack is 12" high and 8" wide and 4" thick it has a front pocket that is 7" x7" and 2" wide.

Here is what I am currently carrying in it.

In the next few pics is the way I have it packed up.

If any of you are looking for a small sling bag you might want to check one out.

Just thought I would share what I have found and hope this might help some of you that like the shoulder bags too.

Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy the pics.

I have multiple backpacks , gear bags etc. I do not own a should style bag but have often thought that would make a good way to carry gear too , although I wonder if it was fairly heavy if it would tend to strain your shoulder/neck ?

I've searched for the perfect Survival/GOOD/SHTF bag and so far my officeboy/laptop bag seems to work out the best ( I cannot recall the brand but it wasn't cheap!).
It has multiple pockets , water bottle holder , hooks and such for hanging gear , it's a pretty neat bag , I'm toying with the idea of taking out the laptop padding to make extra room in it, the best reason I like it so much is it is very comfortable for me to carry.

I do like your setup !

Tostig

Tostig, the Noatak is pretty comfy. I even sling it over my head and it rides great that way to. I am also not carrying lots and lots of weight so that helps to. If the wieght gets to being over 15 pounds I go to a back pack then.

It sounds like your bag works pretty good for ya:thumbup:.

KuRUpTD, Thanks, I really like it so far. It carries great and is just the right size for what I do and for what I like to carry on my walks in the woods that I walk in.

Looks like you have a good setup there. Each time I am looking at bags I always look at shoulder bags and wonder if they would strain my shoulder after a long period of time. I suppose it would depend on how much weight was actually placed in it.

Nice setup. I always like to see what other variations of gear and methods of storing are.

Great set up, well thought out. I agree with nostig as well, i,ve got a laptop bag a Northface surge and i dont own a laptop i bought it after much thought and its perfect as my survival bag

Neat set up Bryan! Is there a belt option for a second point of contact? My fear is the flop-factor. Sling packs probably give an excellent full range of upper body/arm motion given their design; also, I think it's prudent that once you get 15-20 pounds, a more traditional pack would distribute the weight better.

I like the compact size and contents:thumbup:

Hi all,

Thanks for the comments on my little kit.

nc527 the knife and hatchet. I made them a few months back along with anther knife that I carry.

ROCK 6, Yes there is another peace of belt type of thing that really helps secure the pack from flopping around and it even has a built in whisle lol.

Yes once I get past the or up the 15 pound range I go to a back pack. When I head out to make breakfast

I carry more food and gear,

Thanks again guys for the comments about my set up. I to love to see what other carry and how they carry there gear. I have tried all kinds of carry options and so far for a small kit that I can keep the basics and some other gear I really like the sling type of carry best.

Looks great. Thoses knives and hatchet look awesome. Esp like the handle

Looks like that may make a good fish tackle bag or day/hike bag. I may have to get one. Thanks for the review.

I'm liking that Noatak - Maxp snuck that out without me realising going to have to get one of those!
