So ive been working on this for quite a while, I did all the sanding by hand. Which is why it took me so long. I was afraid i might mess it up if i used power tools to sand it. I dont have enough practive to use a belt sander on a $200 knife. Thats something you use a cheap knife to learn on. The final polishing was done with a dremel and felt wheel
I also did a couple other things.
-I added a sharpening notch
- I flat sanded the handles to give it a nice two tone machined look. (I did this months ago so it could use a touch up to remove any scratches and normal wear and tare.)
-I bought a Titanium pivot and lockbar insert screw off a member here that i flame anodized to a nice dark blue/purple
- I ground down the handle thats directly opposite of the lockbar, so that it would be easier to engage the lockbar. Prior to this i had to push my thumb down and then over in order to properly engage the frame lock, which was a PITA and all made my thumb sore.
but this thread is just to show off my newly polished blade. There is still a bit of "haze" on it so im not quite done. I think i need a larger benchtop buffer to remove all the left over scratched and haziness, but for now im pretty happy with how it turned out. It looks much better in person. The camera really brings out all of the tiny scratched that arent visable in person without a magnifying glass.
if anyone has any experience polishing knife blades i would love to hear your advice.
