Just received my Salsa, via the brown truck. This is certainly a nice little knife. Sal is right on, when he says he wanted a knife that would fill the hand, but still have a small blade. The four finger indents fit my hand just right, however they due tend to limit other grips. The saber grip feels very natural. The overall quality of the Salsa is very good to excellent. The Almite finish is very "deep" and covers the entire surface of the scales, inside and out. The AUS-8 blade is flat ground and has a very nice finish, very similar to the Chinese Folder. The edge came extremely sharp, and scared the hairs right off of my arm.

The Cobra Hood is okay, but I think I could due without it. I do see unintentional openings happening with the Cobra Hood. I managed to, but I tried very hard to do so. The wire clip is nice, but it causes the knife to ride quite high in the pocket. However, with the bright color of the handle, and the three screws present on the butt end, it really doesn't look like a knife. It should be sheeple friendly.

The nested Compression Lock is well done, and does everything we would expect it too.

Overall, I like this knife. It will provide me with a dependable, yet small folder to use around the general public. I'll leave my larger knives in the pocket until the need arises.

Darn it, I liked the pics of the your Salsa so much, I just ordered two (blue and green). Green to match my Lil'Temperence, blue to satisfy my need for a blue knife.

Considering that new 2.5" law in Boston, the Salsa is perfect for you Carlos:( Do you have any idea when the high-end version will be released?

Saw the Salsa at SFO yesterday.
Like the way it fits in the hand, not sure about the cobra hood, didn't have to much time to play with it. Love the blue one!
The green was a nice color also, but the tan/kahki one looked more like a pewter color to me.

Can anyone tell me what edge configurations will be available?
The PDR that I got in the mail the other day states that the options are plain and 50/50, but there is a picture of a fully serrated one in the catalog

Bruceter

PS if the Lum Chinnese was this color of blue I would have bought two.

Right now the only configurations I know of are plain and fully serrated. AUS-8 will be used for the Almite aluminum models and ATS-34 for the titanium models.

I agree, the Salsa does fit the hand wonderfully. The Cobra Hood is actually getting better, the more I play around with it. It is something that all of us Spydie lovers will have to get used to.

Hi Anthony,

We adapt and survive despite stupid laws -- the Salsa is already guaranteed to become my new EDC, at least for when I go out. AFAIK the titanium ones should be coming out now, concurrent with the aluminum ones.

However, I noticed that there are no serial numbers on the blade of the pictured aluminum Salsa, so I am guessing that this means that the Ti model is the one getting the 1 - 1000 numbering. There could be a delay if those knives are getting engraved here. Even if not, it would also mean that the first 200 Ti Salsas are spoken for, so I would expect a slight delay after the first Al Salsas start to hit the dealers before the Ti ones start to appear. Of course this is just speculation -- I'll try to check with Spyderco.

Hi Bruceter,

I think that the PDR is in error here. According to the Dealer's 2002 catalog the Salsa is PlainEdge or SpyderEdge; no 50/50.

Thanx for the comments. They are appreciated, esppecially on new models.

The serrated version is a 50/50. Guess some wires were crossed.

Sorry 'bout that Carlos. You should have had something coming. more crossed wires.
