So I pre-ordered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for the PS3 quite some time ago and my wife went to pick it up for me while I was at work. Well, for less than $100 more, she picked up the Prestige Edition of the game that came with Nigh Vision Goggles!
These things are awesome, maybe not top of the line, but amazing bang for the buck considering the price. I read somewhere that, if sold independently, these goggles would be worth at least $300. This may explain the limited release from the developer.
They take 5 AA batteries to run and come with two modes (stealth and long range). Stealth mode makes the small IR lights to the side turn on, which are invisible to the human eye. Long range mode kicks on the IR lights in the front which make small red dots that are not easily seen. Inside the goggles the stealth lights are good for indoors whereas the long range work well outside for about 50 yards or so. These are TRUE NVGs, these bulbs do not emit any visible light like a flash light or anything like that.
You can also switch between green NV mode and black and white mode. Not entirely sure what the point of this is though...
It also comes with that plastic head for display. They may not be top of the line, but I LOVE these things. Didn't even know that they were selling them until I got home from work and was surprised by my wife.
If anyone is interested in these, you better act fast. Can't find any store online that still has any in stock, and the ones that do have some are selling them for upwards of $300 (like Amazon.com) Also, if you own a 360 or PS3, this game is awesome. Not what you might call realistic, but action packed with perfect gameplay and unreal graphics.
