Dawson Knives and 'Airguns of Arizona' ( www.airgunsofarizona.com )...I guess I've seen manufacturers like Spyderco and Buck make special knives for large retailers or other firms, but this seems a subtle but significant difference, or maybe a sea-change? I saw this while doing a search for custom makers! I don't remember ever seeing something like this. The knife is on the home page, just scroll down a bit.
Take a well respected custom knife maker and a small (compared to Cabella's or the like), high-end distributor or retailer that would go well with quality bladeware, and make a very limited number of custom knives; not your typical "collector" knife or logo-etched Buck 110 ! I called about the knife, and they only had 10 made, and number 001 is still available. ATS-34, canvas micarta scales, kydex pocket sheath.
I've got a couple of Dawson knives in my collection, and although this one isn't generally the finish or sheath style I buy, I know his work and it is outstanding. I may have to pick me up one of these; the shape and size is the type I love, and the pocket sheath looks very cool and useful.
The rest of this site looks worth taking a closer look at, too.
ps: a knife shop owner in my city saws that Dawson was the original developer of the kydex pocket sheath like this--any one able to confirm or deny this?
