Investigate and -- I believe -- you'll find that this gentleman is using a Cold Steel head and custom manufactured handle. Price is approximately $150.00. If the CS head is worth $25.00 then that's a $125.00 handle. Ouch. I dunno...it gotta be a helluva handle to justify the prive imho and $0.02.h

Yes, I agree, that does resemble one of Cold Steel's tomahawk heads. But that looks to me like one helluva lot of handle for the head that's on it!

i found this looking around ron hoods forum. the maker gives his reasoning for the long handle. i think it would be too hard to carry in the field.

762Shooter ordered one and he was babbling something about the stronger/longer handle being best for fighting, so I guess if the Zombonians attack 'ol Shooter will be wading knee deep in hawkulated Zombie parts. Messy...very messy. :barf:

imo fighting with a really long hawk like this would be silly.

it would be hard to swing this hawk with much control with one hand and once someone got inside your guard you would really be missing that offhand knife.

this is only speculation on my part though from reading dwight mcclemore's tomahawk fighting book though, so i could be wrong.

I hear ya. I'd simply plug the guy between the eyes from 40 yards out like 'ol Indiana Jones did in Raiders.

If you like the longer handle, cold steel sells 30 inch replacement handles that fit all their hawks. I bought one for my rifleman hawk. If I ever had to actually chop some serious wood with it (and did not have access to an actual ax, or chainsaw) I figured the two handed swing would be better.

As to fighting with it, I would not discount fighting with a longer handle. It seemed to work very well for about literally thousands and thousands of years for about every one. much less convenient to carry how ever. Ask anyone one of the millions of dead people through out history killed with a longer handled ax.
