After some excellent advice from two staunch members of this Forum I stand corrected.:eek::barf::o Let's call it a momentary brain fart or whatever.Too much time spent playing football, chasing women and drinking instead of focusing more on other pointy objects. I like their solution better anyway. I'll save the sticks for my 6 for $3 beauties.
If you just wandered in here and are confused,it's not worth worrying about. I changed my point of view.

The beauty about J edges is you only need a strop to maintain them if you really get them dull you have to put some 400 grit sand paper on top of the strop or send it for a spa :)

Good point Pauli.I've never sharpened one of my Horton's yet.Wish all mine were that way,but if you use some others a lot you might need to touch them up. I don't sharpen knives a lot and that's one reason I like this. It doesn't cost much, like an Edgepro does, so I don't have a lot of money in something I don't use much.

Ron, Horton convex edges are shaped like a rifle bullet. That is why they need to be sharpened on something relatively soft like a strop. The cross sticks turn it into a v grind, which in my opinion is not as durable and needs to be done to the exact angle again to resharpen. With a convex edge you can resharpen your knife on a scrap piece of cardboard and your angles don't need to be as precise.

Thanks for the info,Brian. To be honest,I probably wouldn't sharpen a Horton--just strop.

Got it....:thumbup::D Thanks Guys, See my first post for a being stupid excuse.
