Hey guys

I bought this xm in eBay and i believe this is not an original one (blade and handle came from different knives). From my understanding there was never a hinderer xm18 3.5 in early gen 4 been produced with working finish handle and stone washed spearpoint blade with 35vn material. However the seller insisted that it was an original one.

how do you guys think?

What does it say on the side of the Hinderer box it came with?

Not sure if this will help but I had a gen 4 XM-18 3.5" with working finish ti lockside and liner and stonewashed s35vn blade. The XM-18 in your video looks legit to me.

Edit: mine was a spanto (see pic below).

Thanks for the pic, i use to see this combination (sw blade, wf handle) in bowie and spanto, but never spearpoint...

Interesting, as most of Hinderer boxes are labeled maybe with the exception of there older stuff........... Then I would ask the fella where it was purchased and try to verify that way or contact the Ranch "customer service" possibly.

How's the centering and lock up on the blade? If the knife doesn't have any issues and you like the knife and it's going to be a user, I would be all that concerned.

I purchased it in eBay and i actually discussed with the seller regarding my doubting, he insisted it is an original knife from rhk factory, on the other hand i discussed with many hinderer collectors and nobody ever seen this combination before.

I emailed rhk customer service also, they told me the only way to verify it is that i send back the knife to them...

I'm posting this question here just want to know if anybody have ever seen or know this combination. Kind of detective game.

Too be fair, not many people have seen the combination of the one I have either. But I literally bought it from Rick in person at Blade Show. Maybe this is something similar.

If detent and lockup are good, no blade play (pivot correctly lapped) and - key - no lock stick, chances are high this is an original. Not trivial to swap blades on non-steel-insert Hinderers.
