I'm with you. I have done it ti pistols and rifles but not knives but I have learned that their are guys that are so good at it that it be foolish to do it yourself for the small amount of money they charge versus the effort. LarryUrgh.... In other words, I will NEVER be doing anymore checkering. What a painstaking process. Especially for something that can be so easily ruined when traveling through the brush while hunting. Ask me how I know. :/
Checkering IS a very tasteful embellishment though. It’s super easy to screw up though. Just getting a couple lines crooked and it throws off the entire appearance. It’s also very easy to go past the boarder when push cutting. Which is why the “hook and pull” method is the way to go.
