Checkering file?

What size do you folder makers use to cut the lock bar grips? I've been using a triangle file, but it's hard to line the notches up right.

Thanks,

Will

I haven't ever used one for that Will so I bow to greater minds but if you just want to try some different spacings, use my "Made it from scrap" trick and tape several pieces of very fine tooth hacksaw blades together with poster board spacers between the sections.

Make sure the last section (or first) is upside down to use as a smooth guide for the second line of cuts.

Checkering files come in 20, 30, 40, 50 lines per inch. I've used them on guns but not knives.

Will52100,
While not a folder maker, I use a checkering file from brownells. I use the coarses on they have and it works beautifully for me.

Thanks guys, I was also thinking of using it on a couple of fixed blade designs like neck knives. Though that would be limited as I generaly don't like thumb serations on anything but a light duty knife.

Peter I've been thinking along thouse lines(was thinking of turning one blade one way and the other the other for dept and spacing and silver soldering together) but haven't tried it yet, now I'm going to have to destroy a perfectly good hack saw blade!

I guess since the numbers are per inch I could draw it out and figure out what I need.

Thanks guys.
