Can G10 be checkered with a gunsmith's checkering file? I haven't done anything with G10 and want to rough up the grip of a KOA light hunter. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

I've no experience checkering G10, but I do sand mine down with sand paper occasionally. Sand paper does a good job taking material away so I would assume that any file would as well.

Yes, you can checker it. It might take a bit of patience and elbow grease though. Make sure you have and wear a respirator. Personally, I don't take chances when it comes to G10/carbon fiber dust. That stuff is the worst.

Off to MT&E.

I tried on canvas micarta a while ago but it was difficult. Not even as soft as the hardest wood. Then I broke out the dremmel tool, and tried with a few different bits. After the toxic dust plume settled down, I bailed on it. I would recommend either using a sample piece of G10 or like I did, which was to try it out on the inside of the scales. Definitely wear a dust mask. Post some pics if it works out for you.
