Checking HRC before tempering

Hello, I just finished building a heat treat oven and I’m getting ready to make some coupons to verify temps. A friend of mine offered to check the hardness at his work but it’ll probably be a couple days between hardening and testing. Will checking hardness without tempering cause problems (like breaking the coupons). The steels I’ll be using include 15N20, Abe-l, and cpm-3v. Aeb-l and 3v will be sub zero treated aka dry ice slurry before testing. Thanks Kyle.

The coupons most likely won't break. If worried you can temper at a low temperature (250-300°F).

I do this all the time without issue. Check out simple little life to see how tough steel can be right out of cryo. Life you that was nitro v.
