Haven't been on Blade Forums for a while and thought I'd drop in and say hi. Made a few pieces since the last post, please forgive the fact most aren't really knife related. I know we like leather goods of all kinds here so hopefully you enjoy!
First up is this black hippo pancake sheath for my Burger Damasteel knife from NYCKS. Figured hippo was appropriate considering the maker is from South Africa.
Tooled my second ever project for a friend's ranch. His family has had this property for 4 generations and as far as I know, the steel cutout of this bronc and rider has been hanging at the entrance from the beginning. Anyway, I thought it'd be nice to tool it with his brand, so I did.
Ended up doing a nice border and made an old barnwood picture frame. He seems to really like having it hanging on his wall.
Went to the Sheridan Wyoming Leather Show last month and picked up some nice exotic hides. The first piece to come out of that was this 1911 holster from a stunning 8 sq. ft. piece of brown hippo. This stuff is awesome and I'll definitely be doing more with it in the future. Have a really nice damasteel knife being built right now and I have a feeling it is destined to have a nice brown hippo pancake sheath made for it. Will post a photo when it's done. Please excuse the poor photo...
Next up was a full face shark M&P Shield pancake holster and mag sheath. This was for another close friend who was in need of a new holster for his pistol. Turned out pretty nice and he was very happy (especially since it didn't cost him anything
):
Next up was another M&P Shield holster for a close friend and Veteran of Afghanistan / Iraq. Since we live in Wyoming, I had been playing with the idea of tooling the Wyoming bucking bronc and rider on a holster and decided this was the one I'd do it on. Turned out nice and again he was very pleased with his gift.
So that leads me to last weekend where I liked the holster so much I made for my friend, I needed one for my 1911. The thought occurred to me to add the outline of some mountains in the background. Again, pretty pleased with the results.
Thanks for looking guys and I'll try to be a bit more of a regular contributor to this forum....with more knife related next time
