Cheep !!

Look at all of that filework on the blade and bolsters..... wow.... and cheap too???? A real weinner.... I mean win winner.

1) I'd bet a dollar that's not real turquois.

2) That's 3-times more expensive than other Chinese knives of similar quality

Its a decoration... not a knife to use, a bit like the Franklin Mint pieces but without any quality whatsoever so the Shitrades are crapp to use <put one in your fishing box as I have and see how long they look beautiful> will never have any collectability whatsoever you cant pull it out and proudly show someone like I can with say my beautiful quality yellowhorse custom.....so what good are they even at $29...anything is only a bargain if you can use it or display it proudly IMHO. .besides...I bet someone got quite squinty eyed doing all that intricate file work for a couple of bucks!. Hoo Roo

It boggles my mind how they can makeship it halfway around the world, and sell a knife like this for $29 !

I see they are showing up on ebay without listing the country of origin.

Turquoise Schrades showing up on Ebay? Now there's an understatement. :D At least it is a no brainer these are not genuine Schrade.

Somehow it still irritates me to see someone trying to pass off a Taylor, albeit in the vintage Taylor tube :barf:, as a 35 year old piece of cutlery history.

5 months ago i bought 2 of the Taylor Schrade custom stone stock knives, closed size: 3 7/8", & 4 5/8" for $15.99 each. i wanted to see what kind of knife could be turned out for that price. well tang and springs are flush in the open position on all 6 blades, no blade rub, shaving sharp, etc.
not knives to interest a Schrade collector, but not "crapp" as some have stated.
i understand praising "original" schrade knives, but i do not understand why some still feel the need to bad-mouth Taylor with untrue statements. criticize for the intentional mimicry of the "Schrade Waldens" being produced perhaps, but stick to facts. this particular series of Taylor Schrades are decent usable knives; not great and unlikely to be collector items, but for little money someone gets a usable knife and may then develop an interest in the originals . roland

Roland,
Isn't Johnson's Landing on the "oilcan" highway.
I remember going thru there in 2003,when the wife and I spent 3 months in Alaska.
That's pretty rugged country around your area.
How much is the price of diesel on the Alcan now?

As far as the general attitude on this forum toward Taylor - it's mainly because Taylor has had chinese copies made of the original Schrade knives, patterns, labels, boxes, etc with the apparent intent of deluding customers into thinking the product is the same as it was before US Schrade closed it's doors. The only thing they haven't duplicated is the USA on the tang stamp and they would probably do that if they weren't afraid of a big lawsuit.
Free trade to the US working class has meant 20-30 million manufacturing jobs lost in the last 10 years.
Companies like Nike get tennis shoes made in China for $7-$15 and sell them here for $125 - $200.
When China has sucked all of the technology, jobs, and money she needs out of the West, you will see what their real intentions are.

relodr36, Johnson's Landing, is at the end of a dirt single lane road, 1 hour drive from the nearest town, Kaslo (pop. ~ 1200). n.e. end of Kootenay Lake. find Spokane on map and look north.
i understand about China/job losses/etc. but it's been happening for a long time. Remington/Winchester/some Bucks/and others. former American knives, now made in China. my point is, be honest. if you wish to criticize Taylor, keep it factual. to say all the Taylor Schrades are crap is not factual.
i have some that are decent. roland

And to top matters off its not that were bad mouthing the junkie taylor schrades but if you look at the top of this page you will see this perticular forum is for and I quote "SCHRADE KNIVES COLLECTORS FORUM IMPERIAL SCHRADE CORP- THE MAKER OF SCHRADE KNIVES AND TOOLS INCLUDING THE FAMOUS UNCLE HERNY AND OLD TIMER BRANDS ALL MADE IN THE USA!!!! I as well own a couple of the taylor shcrades and they are a joke fit and finish suck and they are being passed off as usa schrades and quite frankly someone comes along once a month or so and tries to justify the quality and goodness etc of the china taylors and to be honest the subject is getting quite stale, I think were all getting sick of it and it seems to be the only subject that gets everyones blood pressure up around here or at least mine. just my 2 cents but Im sick of it. Maybe someone can start a taylor schrades forum so we dont have to hear about there crap knives here anymore. And ron your right!!! Im mostly mad cause they try to pass them off as usa schrades to unknowing people who dont know any better. - Joel

and ron this wasnt directed at you I agree with ya I was wondering about thoes knives myself. I post rip off stuff I find on occation as well. And I might not be stating the facts about the quality of the taylors just exercizing free speech.. so my opnion is they suck.- Joel

You better be careful or the Free-Tradists will come for you.But I am glad someone said it.

One of my favorite sayings from my stepdad, God bless his soul, "if it ain't worth doin right it ain't worth doin" used to make madder than a hornet cause I could never do it (whatever i was doin) good enough. Well that was @25 yrs ago made a man of me and I agree with with it we are all going to be speaking or living in a foriegn nation IMHO!!!if we keep supporting foriegn CEO's rant off!!! I'll add greedy American CEO's TO that also.

Tractor Supply had a box of those "turquoise" knives during Christmas, the guy let me handle one. No "feel" at all. Same as flea market crap. I will just keep my real schrades, thank you Mr. Taylor.
JMHO

I handle one pattern of the schrade new turquoise knives. It was very nice made open and shut as good as any knife made.Very nice knife but not U.S.A. made.I only collect U.S.A. if this knife was U.S.I would buy for sure.

Roland,
Sorry about that.I was thinking of Johnson's Crossing at milepost 836,in the Yukon Territory. It is on the north bank of the Teslin River and is pretty rustic.

jc

This is near the northern border of B.C.

That's O.K., J.L. is so small it's not on most maps (maybe 70 people if everyone home) and no commerce, no place to spend money, so i can't post a sign like yours. i could post an old turkey on the road as my avatar. v. fitting ! roland
