Chef knife with metal bolster and butt

I've been looking at other chef knives out there for some inspiration for a project i'm getting ready to start. I want to start with a blank and make the handle. I love Nehoni's 'nenox' inox chef knives and was looking at this one which has metal bolster and butt: http://korin.com/G-Type-Honesuki?sc=22&category=52094
I also really love copper metal, so I was considering doing a similar design but with copper on each end with copper pins for the rivets. How would I adhere the copper butt and bolster to the handle though? The bolster I would just drill out to fit on the tang I imagine, but what about the butt?

On a seperate note, anyone want to recommend a newbie set of files?

thanks for that force 44 link. I changed the topic since I didn't realize I made a tpyo, I meant CHEF KNIFE not KNIFE KNIFE. Anyway, I've been googling those files, thanks for that recommendation too. Anyone have a link to a good deal on a set? I have wetstones and sandpaper but absolutely no files, so I'm betting the best deal for me would be a set.

Your local home improvement store should have them for about 7-10 bucks a piece. Since you are in a major metro area, check your yellow pages for a welders/metal workers supply store, they may have a bigger selection of styles.

If I were to only buy the bare minimum of files I would get a big mill bastard with safe edge and a cross cut half round bastard. 8-10" long should be good. Don't forget a file card for cleaning your files and a handle if you don't get the paddle handle style. Learn to draw file, some good vids on youtube. Don't go back and forth, files only work in one direction.

Buy your files at Sears. Get the Craftsman Brand. When they
get worn, take'm back and get a new one.

For a draw file, get it from Brownells. Finestkind.

File Set but it's best to go to your favorite home improvement stores and get them, you can pick up handles there too. and you WILL wish you had a handle if you use one and wear a blister on your hands.

I like the double cut half round for handle shaping. It'll shape a handle VERY quickly when used right.
