Try saying that 5 times fast :)

Hi Everybody.

I did a couple sheaths for the Alpha Chef 8

1st of all what a great knife.

I did a regular taco style sheath and a pancake style sheath, these are nice to piggy back a Galley Rat on.

I also made a couple exposed spine style sheaths.
Kind of edge covers. but you can still use them as sheaths.

they are actually more work that a fully enclosed sheath, so not too sure about offering them.
They sure do look cool though.

Thoughts;

Great work!… they look fantastic!
Piggyback Galley Rat looks so appropriate.

I can’t see taking mine out of the kitchen / need for a proper sheath though.

My Alpha Chef doesn’t even go in the sink. It goes from being used, to setting on the counter, to being cleaned, wiped, set down to dry & then put away. The tip is paper thin & I don’t want to roll it over. (seen that happen to a buddy already)

If I took the Alpha out if the house/camping… sheath would be good to have. But, I’d leave it at home & take something a bit more burly. I consider the Alpha a “special / doesn’t go anywhere” knife… it’s so slicingly thin. (I know, made-up word) It’s my prized possession in the kitchen & I treat it that way.

If I was a sheath maker… I would have done just what you did, for fun… and share it with the fellas. Thank you for sharing your passion! I love’em… especially the carbon fiber piggyback!

And, yes… I have way too much time on my hands… to ponder sheath applicability and such. (Home sick in bed today 🤔🤧)

Thank you.

Funny thing is a very well known tactical training guy has come out with a "Sleeve Machete" that sells for about 250.00
It looks to be a chopped down/upgraded Ontario 18 military machete.
9.5" blade

My thoughts are that this would be a better choice ?

If carried IWB and would be a wicked slicer

You’re welcome!

But, I’ve seen something like the following posted somewhere here in the Busse area & it also applies now: That post was my two cents & my two cents may very well not be worth two cents.

Side note: Wife cut a finger just barely bumping the blade. Gotta respect The Alpha!

I was probably hungry when I posted the other day & had food/kitchen in my mind😵‍💫

You may be onto something with the IWB… or carry in general. I would NOT want to be on the wrong end of an Alpha Chef 8!… and it’s light!

Those look great! My vote would be the lightest weight kydex, taco style. I wouldn't carry it. Kitchen use only for me, but having a sheath for the possibility of cooking at someone else's house would be nice.

Love the exposed spine blade covers. They look great but I can see how they would be a pain to make. Hit me up if they ever become available. Would grab one for sure.
