Here's a smaller chef's knife that I made for my sister- in- law for her wedding next weekend. Should be a pretty good all around kitchen knife and a great slicer. It's thin overall with a nice distal taper and really thin cutting edge. The handle is contoured kind of like a coke bottle and is very comfortable in the hand.

3/32" 1080 steel, edge quenched and etched
10 1/2" overall, 5 1/4" cutting edge
Black paper micarta bolsters, dovetailed
Scarlet box elder burl scales
Brass pins and spacer
Thorny vine filework inset into the handle spine

Very nice!
That finger coil looks omfortable
A bit thicker it would also be a good camp knife

Really cool. It does have a hunter/ camper feel to it that catches my eye more so than a typical slicer.
