I know this has come up in the past but I am looking for suggestions for a custom maker of very high quality kitchen knives. I would love to be able to get an 8 inch chef's knife made from stellite / talonite.
My dad is a retired butcher and I would like to give him this knife for his 70th birthday.

Also, I have not found any feedback on Bob Kramer (www.bladesmiths.com) on this forum. Has anyone dealt with him in the past?

Thanks, protodoc

T.H. Rinaldi and Rob Simonich have done talonite kitchen knives before. www.thrblades.com Try that for Trace's site. http://www.simonichknives.com/ Try that for Rob. There are other talonite makers out there, but Rob and Trace are the only two that I know of that have made kitchen knives out of talonite in the past.

Protodoc- www.tichbourneknives.com I don't know if he works with stellite or talonite, but George makes fantastic kitchen knives, great performance and ergonomics, and you won't ever find better folks to deal with than George and Carol.

I agree with Richard. Tichbourne knives are really a good value. Delivery was prompt in case, especially considering a couple of mods I had made.

I have a Trace Rinaldi TTKK and can highly recommend that as a good kitchen knife as well. It is not specialized as a kitchen knife though so, in my case I get greater versatility.

Stay Sharp,
Sid

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I will check into the makers that were mentioned.
