Longbow and anyone else, if you have pics of your Chek-Mate bows I would love to see them, I am having the very devil of a time trying to decide on a wood combo.
Here's the link to the post where I have a couple photos of my recurve. The limbs are Red Elm and the riser is Shedua (darker of two) and Bubinga. They are standard wood options on the bow.
Beautiful combination. FYI, because cocobolo is such an oily wood, I've heard of a few problems, not many, that have come up when used as a bow wood. Don't know about CM having any, but you might ask the seller about it.
I have a recurve that the riser is made out of cocobola and what happend with mine, is that the finish has worn off were my palm comes in contact with the bow, nothing big. The bowyer said he would redue it any time I asked.
Thanks Tony, I am pretty much set on this combo, I just need to be 100%. A bit of good news is my wife got sick of me looking at the site and just said "Buy whatever you want"
