Anyone know of a chemical that can discolor rubber but not disintegrate or craze the material? I have an all-rubber watch strap that I'd like to "stain" to a different color. It's currently black.

you're outa luck... the color is part and parcel of the material...

Rubber straps are cheap, buy another one...

wait...

some rubber straps are cheap... others (like breitling) will cost more than many other watches

There's not much to do, unless your band is clear or white rubber. If so, some RIT dye may do the trick, if the rubber is the the correct kind.

Other color possibilities are possible, if you take the original color into account. Add red dye to a light blue band, and you will get violet. Add yellow to a bright red band and get purple. You just can't defeat the original color.

Too bad. I was hoping that there was something out there, but it seems that rubber is very stable and doesn't lend itself to post-production coloring. Thanks to all.
