I've got a 498 on the way and am thinking about stripping the black finish off.
My Go-to rattle can stripping agent is JASCO but all i have right now is some Citristrip and the local hardware is currently out and, Has anyone tried using Citristrip to remove the blade coating on an Ontario knife ?
I don't want to waste it, but if it'll work I can avoid the 30 min trip to Pick up some of the good stuff at HD or Walmart.

Citristrip worked perfectly on a couple Rat folders that I removed the black coating off of.

Found out that this coating is a sinc phosphate, and no kind of paint stripper is going to work.

I'll have to figure something else out or forget stripping it.

I'll have to get some pictures tomorrow, but I was actually able to wire wheel the coating off, I guess it wasn't as tough as I thought.
