Hello all!
Yes, I am going through chemo and chemo brain is a real thing.
I was doing a load of laundry and made sure to remove the morphine and other meds I carry in standby but I failed to remove my MT Scarab user before putting the jeans in with other clothes. As soon as I realized my stupidity I took off the glass breaker and hosed down the whole knife real good with WD-40. It is presently leaning blade opening down to let some of the excess drain out.
I am on my way to the garage to retrieve my compressor. Probably tomorrow I will blow it out the best I can then chase that with non/Chlorinated carb cleaner followed by LPS and another air blow out.
Am I on the right track?
Any useful suggestions?
I head to another round of chemo Tuesday and will be basically out of it for 5-7 days.
I would be very grateful for any help that can be provided.
Grace and peace always,
Greg

From a general knife use perspective, it sounds like you're handling it right. Let us know how it turns out.

Yeah definitely on the right track. Microtech's website suggests Rem Oil and compressed air blowout.

I suspect you'll be alright on the knife. More importantly, all my best friend and kick the absolute #$@^ out of that cancer!

My faith, hope and trust is in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Father God has His hands all over this trial.
Thank you all for your kindness and support.

I would have rinsed it with alcohol first to get the water out. An overnight soak with WD40 might be a bit of overkill. If you have any polymer safe Gunscrubber that would work well as it's mostly alcohol and that will absorb and remove water too.
It'll be fine, no different really than when people just wash their knives with hot water in the sink.

Also chemo sucks. Chemobrain doesn't go away immediately... every study I look up seems to show it can last longer and longer. And based on my experience it does. Not as bad as it was during treatment and right after, but I still forget words and am even worse with names. Learning is also a bit of a bitch.. but I'm not sure how much is residual chemo brain and how much is just getting older and lazier.

Peppermint oil is a great way to help stave off puking for a few minutes so you can make it to a bathroom, or to someplace less inconvenient to puke.

Thank you for your input and advice. With the type of cancer I have I will be moving into surgery soon, middle to end of February, and the surgery is quite intense, to say the least.
I was turned over to CU Anschutz cancer center by Kaiser, where they perform the procedure and have one of the leading surgical oncologists in the country performing the procedure. The procedure is called CS/HIPEC the cancer is peritoneal carcinomatosis/and something else I can't recall presently. They won't know completely what going on until they peel me open.
God has provided and I continue to walk through the open doors He has provided.
God is good, always good.
Blessings to all,
Greg

Turned out fine gents except..... I bought this used for a good price but I was not told the top half of the glass breaker threads were stripped. So now no pocket clip for me
UGHHH, what's a mother to do!!!! Go bigger to size???? It will have to wait but I would be curious as to what you all think.
Thanks

"top half" being the ones closer to the head, further from the tip, right? The screw is stripped, not the aluminum housing?
I replaced the pocket-clip on my UTX-85 with a bent and modified cabinet corner brace - it's a bit thicker than the factory clip, so the screw does not penetrate as deep.

Maybe that would solve your problem, just adding a spacer under the clip or just under the head of the screw - a thin rubber/nylon washer or bit of plastic might be ideal.

Great modification! The screw is not stripped though, the body is. :(
Crud, thought that might be so. Yup, only solution is to cut new threads in the next size up and use a new screw (no glass breaker, unless you find one to suit.)

Pics?

Prayers that properly threaded holes are your most serious and persistent problem for many years to come!

Send a Pic sometime, chemo today!
(Edit) I really don't want to remove the GBreaker after consideration.
I will pursue tapping out to the next size or 2 when I can. Right now thing are good with the knife and I have so much to prepare for regarding the surgery and being "out" for who knows how long. I will say it is challenging preparing for the unknown, taxes, setting up auto-pay on all my accounts, etc!!o_O
Blessings,
Greg
