After what proved to be my toughest week yet, I happily report that it is ALL OVER for now!
Came home last Saturday from a rough week of in-patient chemo. It really hit me hard this time. No appetite, and what I did eat, didn't stay down. (And I had another treatment on Monday also.) The nausea & vomiting went on for about 2-3 days when Chuck (G19G26) called the oncologist. I had to go in Wednesday for IV anti-nausea meds and 1 liter of fluid. They had me go back today (Thursday) for more IV anti-nausea meds and 2 liters of fluid. I was there for 5 hours today. The good news is, that the Dr. cancelled the treatment next week, since it made me so sick. Therefore --- NO more chemo. So, I ask, "When can I get the PICC line out?". At first the Dr. said I should wait until we get all the tests done & I have my follow-up. When I remind him that isn't until Jan 7th & I really don't want to care for the PICC line for 4 more weeks, he said it could come out when I'm ready. So, when I get done with the fluids, I asked the nurse to take it out, and IT'S GONE! She just snipped the 2 stitches & pulled it out.
Ok, you skeptics may be saying.... what if you need more chemo. Well, I'm trusting I won't and... I'll cross that bridge when I come to it! (Getting a PICC line put in, isn't the worse thing to go through.) I can actually sleep on my left arm now without worrying.
Now, if I can just get all my hair back that easy .... ;-) (sorry, no pictures were taken with current hairstyle -- or lack thereof)
Thank you all for your love, prayers & support!
BLESSINGS!!
