I took this Cherokee Rose to the Riddle of Steel this year, to see the reactions of the people there to the design.

Jim Keating liked it. He played with it a bit, noting that some people would find it too heavy, but he found it quite satisfying. His manipulations were skillful and showed a quick familiarity with its abilities.

Pete Kautz also had a favorable opinion of the blade, comparing it to the historical German falchions.

Laci Szabo took right to the blade, calling it a cleaver and obviously enjoying its heft.

Compared to the opinions of these gentlemen, my opinion is of little merit. Any of these men will not hesitate to identify a poor design when they run across one.

Yvsa and the kamis should stand tall this day.

Kind of makes you feel like you're basking in reflected glory, if you own one, doesn't it? Strange. I understand why you say your opinion is of little merit in this case, but that's only compared to some giants in that field. Doesn't diminish you a bit.

Great to see you Howard. It's nice when the experts "get it". The Rose certainly will draw a reaction from folks. Awesome blade.

Steve

Nice picture, thank you Howard

Always nice to see Howard around these parts:)

The Rose is a fantastic blade both in design and execution. By God, life is cheap out here on the Brazos.

Thank you Howard.:) I guess it was worth spending a year getting the handle just right to go along with the blade.;) :o

Congratulations Yvsa and Kamis.

I grabbed one of the first Rose's that appeared. Spent months on the handle to make it as perfect as possible. Gave it to my dad. Good to see good work be appreciated at any level.
