Can anyone tell me how the Rose is hardened? Does it go all the way to the tip or is more like a standard khurk. Thanks for any info everyone.

Mark, I haven't etched mine, but the one that I bought back in 2005 is pretty hard to the tip. However, I will say that it is still softer at the tip than at the belly. Probably not khuk tip soft, but maybe (and this is just a guess) 53-54rc with the belly around 58-60ish. From the work I've done to mine with a stone and strop, it feels about as hard or maybe a bit harder than a typical SAK blade at the tip.

I haven't tested the clip, but i thought I remembered reading somewhere that the clip is supposed to be hardened enough to sharpen up for a back cut.

However it is hardened, the Rose works. I love mine. I have put it through its paces and have yet to destroy the tip or loosen the guard at all.

Thanks Jake. That is about what I remembered reading in the past but could not do the search to make sure. That one from the 3/10 deals has been killing me and I think I was looking for a reason not to want it so bad.

It's going to vary, blade to blade, but here's one I had.

Steve,
Outstanding is the word. You really brought the Hamon cheese to that blades party.
