I was surprised to see both the Rush 290 and the larger Tempest 295 assisted openers available today, in the US and Canada, with Cherrywood inlays.

I've seen the tooth, the carbon fiber and the shell inlays but not the Cherrywood. Anyone collect these, have comments or pics? How do the Cherrywood scales, with both sides of each scale inlay exposed on both sides of each knife, hold up over the years?

Years ago I carried the 296 and never had any complaints. I keep it in a place of honor but brought it out (looks perfect) when I saw the Cherrywood versions.

I was at Cabelas on Saturday in West Virginia and they had a Tempest with a wood inlay, I guess it coulda been cherrywood, I hadnt seen one before. They wanted $85 or something for it. I got my 296 with 154cm for $30(no inlays) so I kinda browsed right past it.

Cabelas.com is where I saw them you lucky lucky you to have a Cabela's in your neck of the woods. I'm gonna move. Got a spare room? I always wanted to return to Harper's Ferry area as I enjoyed the waterways, mountains and the terrific people.

$85 it is. Inflation?

With the Cherrywood Chairman series I can see a whole display case, in my mind's eye, cleverly displaying all manner of clever Buck knives having Cherrywood in common against a blue or green felt background. That is a nice thought. Funny, I've been in a bad mood for years. Maybe the worm has turned.

I gotta room anytime oregon. I'm hoping a BPS is going to be built about 7 miles from my work-Cabelas is about a 35 min drive from work and 50-60 from home.

I got a great deal on the 296-It was BIN and I dont think the seller realized it was upgraded steel.

The cherry wood on the tempest isnt at all as red as the chairman series or the vantage, thats why I am not 100% sure it was cw-looks more like cw than the chaimans do though, more natural.

Exclusive for Cabela's

Don't get in to big of a rush to move Oregon.
Cabelas is opening their first store in Oregon late this spring
It is under construction at the Gateway Mall in Eugene. You can see it as you go down I-5...

I remember reading somewhere that they are going to open one in the Portland area later this year too. Oregon City IIRC.

Can't wait to make the pilgrimage, when the one in Eugene opens. If it opens during the week, I may even take a day off work :D

Now that is good news. Thank you kindly 338375 Since I'm on a roll, Cabelas is moving in, perhaps they will build within walking distance of me. :D

Can you buy from cabelas.com and save on the shipping by having the goods delivered to your local store?
