Picked up a couple knives at the Chesapeake knife show, mostly traditional blades. Most of those blades were gotten at the Great Eastern Cutlery booth. The son of one of the owners was set up there with a stack of the new Great Eastern Cutlery books, and GEC, Northfield/UNXLD and Tidioute folders. I also traded a one handed opener for a Remington lockback.

The GEC rep/partial owner had a large offering of different patterns, and handle materials, all very nice. I was really keen to pick up either a 23 trapper pattern (didn't have any), or Cattle Baron or Cattle rancher. I ended up with a Cattle Baron, golden rod handle material. I was glad to see some easy opening picks, and picked one up with what appears to be dark cocobolo scales. I went back later, and picked up a Beaver Tail trapper, and one blade lockback. I also picked up a copy of the Great Eastern Cutlery book, the history of the "acquired" names that Great Eastern sells under. The knives are at home, so I am looking for which model number the lockback is, although it resembles the Remington Bullet lockback, albeit smaller.

No pics, but here are some links to GEC's site of what I picked up...

The other one that I picked up is a Remington 1303 lockback, from 1984. I have been a big fan of this pattern since reading about it in, of all places, Tactical Knives. I'd like to pick up the Cold Steel version made by Camillus, of which there are very few. Of course, I'd like to have an original Remington, but this 1984 Camillus made version is another grail knife I have been searching for.

As for the show itself, there were several slipjoint makers there. Tim Britton had some nice slippies, and there were many custom slipjoints and antiques. Lots of really nice Case XX era pieces, of which I know nothing about, but they were very beautiful, and very pricey. I saw a cotton sampler in one display case, that I thought was a Case/Bose collaboration, but was an original. I do not know if the mammoth ivory handles were original or not, but it didn't matter to me. The knife was still a beaut.

Every maker or small knife company that was there told me to come to the Blade show, after I mentioned "sensory overload" at the packed hotel hall. I was very happy with my traditionals haul, and plan on putting all of the knives, even the Remington, through their paces.

Cool! Are you talking about Chesapeake VA? When my family and I go to the beach In VA we always go through that awesome under water tunnel in Chesapeake Bay.
