Noticed a puzzling move when I play against the computer:

If my opponent has his pawn on a5 let's say, and I move mine from a2 to a4, he captures it, and moves from a5 to b4. Is this some variation of the en passant move? Does en passant have variations?? Or, is this a programming glitch?

Thanks. :)

Does it work in reverse? If you make the same move against the computer?

I've noticed this too. Some programs accept en passant and
others do not. I am not aware of official variations.

must be a programing issue, en passant only happens when you move your pawn to the side of his pawn, hence en passant "in passing" He cannot take a pawn directly in front of him

Glitch, does this same thing happen on rows b-h? or anywhere besides the given scenario?

Weird, it's like a Berolina pawn en-passant in the the middle of the board!

????

Yeah, definitely sounds glitchy, unless you're unwittingly playing some unusual variant.
