Last September I ordered my first trapper and my first CV in Chestnut Bone. I've carried it around quite a bit and it's developed a nice looking patina. I was impressed with it; it kicked the Buck 301 I'd carried around for a long time right out of my pocket.

I keep reading Peanut posts on the subforum, and finally just couldn't stand it. I just ordered a Chestnut Bone Peanut. Turns out I like the Case knives quite a bit. They seem a lot more "old fashioned" than my derlin handled stockman knives, especially in this nice dark brownish color. I'm excited about this knife. I just returned to West Virginia University and thought this would make an excellent little campus user.

Congratulations! Mine arrived in the mail today, and I can already tell it will be in my pocket most days.

Yes, it WILL make a good campus user.

Since Ive been carrying my Peanut, the only problem I've found is that it makes just about every other knife feel too heavy or bulky in the pocket by comparison. :)

That's the problem I have with a lot of gear. I'll try a smaller item just for yuks, but then I get used to the lighter smaller item, and don't like to go back. Like I used to carry an AA mini mag all the time for a light. Then I tried a small single AA light, a Peak solutions. Got used to it, and never went back. Then I tried s single AAA light, and now I'm stuck on my Fenix EO1. Very often, I find that even though I give up some performance on the top end of things with the smaller item, it still is good enough that it works at it's intended task. Like knives. The Fenix EO1 puts out enough light for me to see by, but takes up very little room in the pocket. The peanut takes up very little room, but still will cut most of what I need to cut on a daily basis. It's a fine line balancing act with pocket stuff. How small can it be, and still function at it's engineered job?

Peanuts, pocket flashlights, monoculars. All good. Problem is, once you go light, you don't want to go back.

Carl.

I'm actually looking forward to the smaller knife. Right now I'm generally carrying either a full sized trapper or a Vic Farmer. Sometimes I carry nothing but a Vic Classic, but I like to have something just a little more substantial. I think a Peanut will be a cool little carry. The only concern I have (if you can call it a concern, it's closer to nitpicking) is the dye. My Chestnut Bone Trapper has a few light spots down near the bolsters. It's nicer looking on the side with the shield. On the back side aside from the light spot there's also a bit of a bright red streak. Still a nice looking knife, but I'm kind of hoping the Peanut comes with a more uniform dye job. How does yours look, Doug?

No matter how much I try, I simply cannot get a clear shot of this knife. The best so far was the one I took the day it arrived, posted in the Knives in Action thread.

Okay, the focus is not the best, because they are BlackBerry photos taken inside (not natural lighting), but they do show the colors of the chestnut and honey brown bone fairly well.

Nice! Thanks for the pics; that's what I'm hoping mine will look like. Now to just sit around waiting for five days or so...

Here are a couple I took this afternoon, with better lighting and a more natural setting.

I hope yours arrives soon. The waiting is the worst part!
