Chicago Knife Show- Anyone going?

I have been thinking about attending the big knife show that's usually held in Chicago near the end of September. It would be my first time there.

It will depend on whether or not I finish making a special little folder; if I do finish it I'd be interested in sharing a table with an exhibitor and displaying a few of my knives.

Are there any exhibitors here that usually attend? Would you be interested in letting me share a table? (of course I'd chip in for the cost, and I'd only use a tiny amount of space on it.)

For others who have gone to the show before, is there any advice or tips you could give me regarding the above situation?

Possum,

If it's the Chicago Custom Knife Show Sept. 10-12th, I think it's the first one. I'll be there for at least the first day. Don't have a booth tho. I'm a buyer, not a seller. See you there.

Possum,
I'll be there and yes this is the first show of this caliber in chicago. The show has been sold out for months and there is a long waiting list. Many exhibitors as well as show promoters frown on sharing tables as well as "brown bagging" the show. You might talk to dealers while your there and show some of your wares to see if they are interested. Deals are best cut in the lobby.

I'll be at the AECA show, I think the third weekend in September. The last one was pretty cool!

I usually go to the Oak Lawn show, but this year I can only go to one. I'm going to the newer show, with the full boat of big name makers. Wish I could make both, but the Wife says no. :)

I'll be there Friday at least--just gawking. All those great makers in one place just 2 hours away is impossible to resist!

Howdy Possum!
I'll be at the custom show on Friday afternoon, maybe Sat. afternoon. I will also try to make the AECA show the following weekend if the wife ain't too pissed at me. ;) I'll be wearing my Blade Forums T-shirt with Mongo embroidered on it. Otherwise I'd look like the rest of the knuts.... big stooopid grin and a little drool on my face.

Holy Cow! The Show is September 10th-12th? Hmmmm... I didn't remember it being that early. I doubt I will be able to finish this knife by then, so maybe the whole table idea was for naught.

Actually, my whole reason for asking is because if this knife turns out the way I want it to, I wouldn't mind showing it off, and possibly even enter it in for judging. I don't plan to sell anything. I assume you have to be an exhibitor to enter knives for judging? Wait a minute, do they even have contests for various categories there?

Schucks. Maybe I could still go just to look around at all the fantastic work. (don't have money to buy anything) I'm sure it would still be very worthwhile.

Good to hear so many of you will be there, though. If I make it, I'll be the short, fat, ugly guy with a two foot long Bowie knife tucked in his belt.

It's good to go just to meet other makers, see others work and get lots of ideas and inspiration. You can also ask other makers what they think of your work and usually they will share tips and tricks to help you out. It's a great place to exchange ideas.

Found this old thread via Google. I also found that there is no knife show in Chicago in 2011.

Any knife shows anywhere in the upper mid-west?
