Chicago is having a knife show later this year. My question is are knives cheaper at a knive show than the Internet and if so by how much? I'm looking at a Scott Cook folder and maybe a Strider.
thanks for any input

It depends on the dealer. Most of the time, the internet is cheaper, but you might happen upon that dealer that is trying hard to move his stock. Strider and handmades shouldn't be too hard to move, but it is worth a shot to haggle with the dealer. Look around at knife prices and set a price that you will pay, one being the average, and the other being what is the most you will pay.

godot,

Where is this knife show. Do you have a link or some info you could send my way via E-Mail. I live in the midwest as well and this show would definitely be of interest to me.

Just a comment on the Striders. I'd say you can pick them up for cheaper at a show than you can through a dealer that picks them up at a show. This is because the dealer has to make money on them too and they can't unless they increase the price.

What got me wondering was an article on another site about a guy that picked up a Nightmare Grind Recurve SMF for like $600 new from Josh. It may have had something to do with a TAD Gear store opening. The cheapest place I've found on the net for new Striders is Plaza Cutlery who have them at around $900 - $950. But they are usually out of the customs. I'd keep checking there now though as there is a big show coming up and that seems to be when the dealers restock. (Blade)

just my opinion,
