I'm working on a set of images from the Chicago Custom Knife Show Sept. 10-12.

The site I have chosen to host 87 images is a bit tricky to get a link that allows easy access but hopefully I can solve it.

I am testing linking to the site images and the preview did work but not sure if it will last much like some other sites. However, at least you will see an image of the Best of Show and Best Art Knife winner, Ray Cover Jr. and him holding his knife if the link holds.

The knife in the foreground is made by David Broadwell for whom Ray does a lot of engraving work.

here is an image of the knife itself.

Hey Murray - Not getting any images! But I really want to see the Broadwell with Ray Cover engraving!

hmm. interesting as I see the images. wonder if that is because the site I'm trying to link to is a site to which I'm the subscriber?

I'll keep working on this as I have a lot of images from the Chicago show to share and I have images I'll start working on shortly from both BladeWest and Plaza Cutlery.

BTW--the knife that Ray won with is his own creation. He made the knife and did all the other work. I don't believe a Best of Show can be done as a collaboration or won by the engraver not the maker.

now I just have to see if they change the link or it is permanent. sorry the items are not in order but hopefully folks will enjoy the images anyway.

If you know names of makers or knifes I can't identify or maybe have misidentified let me know and I can adjust the info and my own files. TIA

Images can be view by double click of the thumnail and then one at a time or by using the slide show. The images were uploaded at 800 pixel by xxx so using f11 is good and the slide show works nicely and the duration and the transitions can be adjusted. i use 5 sec and random.

Great seeing pics of the show, wish I could have been there.

Don looked so lonely sitting there, his only company that award winning bowie. Then, the pic where he was about to hit Anders H. with his beer belly... :)

RL posted links from the site to the post and I figured out now what I was doing wrong. Different url when the site is public than when I access it. Should have realized the problem. Wish I had figured this out before as I could have saved my renewal to Fototime I think. Now I can see I can create the story with the images where they belong instead of the random selection made by the webaphoto program.

Most of the knife images were done with room light on auto setting at 1/8th sec which is pretty difficult to hand hold using the Pentax Optio S4i. I'm figuring out that I may be better to do the adjustment re white balance in camera but then again, the image editing software works well also.

With the other cameras I now have, Minolta Z3 and even more recently, the Panasonic Z7 both with image stabilization, it will likely provide for an improved result under similar circumstances.

Anyway here is another of Ray's knives and the problem is visible even though I tried to make some image editing adjustments.

great. glad you helped me figure that out. Now if only I had a clue as to how much space WebaPhoto actually provides. I'm hoping their "unlimited" truly means that.
