I came across some free contact wheels they are made by Chicago Rubber. I got three of them that are 14" I also got some 2", 4", and 6", wheels and an idler wheel all free. I was also lucky and got a bunch of other cool stuff. A bucket of high temp refractory, a 2" ball valve, a press with a 8" cylinder (I will need to buy a pump) And gobs of other cool stuff.

My question is do any of you know who sells (online retail) the Chicago rubber contact wheels? I need the inner hub. I could have one made but if they are not to pricy I would be glad to buy one. The wheels are steel with a ruber tire and a 3 1/2 inch hole. There is a seperate inner hub that bolts onto the wheel. That hub is what I am looking for.

This stuff came out of a die cast factory that closed down. My dad works for the new owner of the building and it was his task to clean up the building. As you can see I gladly helped out. In the pic is some of the stuff I got including one of the 14" wheels, the cylinder from the press, some micarta, the steel topped bench, some aluminum plate, the ball valve, etc. I will post some pics of the press when I get it back together. It is actually the top half of a high pressure injection molding die.

Thanks

At some point I remember finding their site. I needed a wheel recovered and I'm pretty sure you can order right from them. This was quite a while ago, but they did do the wheel. Their site is different since then, but try this....http://www.chicagorubber.com/r200.html

I'm a machinist, maybe we could trade... I'll make you an inner hub in trade for one of the 14" wheels???

Rudy, I did find their website but from the looks of things the hub they have is a drive hub. I want a hub with bearings. I plan on giving them a call on monday. Also I was not sure if they sold just the hub their website is not very clear. I am fairly sure I have seen a hub that will fit this wheel that had bearings but I cant remember who it was that was selling it.

Mykulmorris, My father is semi retired and has his own machine shop. He told me he could make me the hub but from my experiance it may take years before I see it so I may take you up on your offer.

Thanks
