Wife and I were on the way home today after eating out at lunch, when out of the blue she asked, "What did you spend $(a lot) at Mark's Outdoor Sports for, the same week that you spent $250 on a Busse Knife?"

I knew I should have quickly filed that credit card billing after I paid it, instead of letting it lie around. So deciding that the best defense was a good offense, I proceeded to explain without apology. "I have wanted a high-grade 1911 for a long time. There is a two year wait on a Heine Nighthawk long-slide 10mm, so when I walked in and there lay one they had just put in the display case, it was like a sign from God. I knew it would be gone by closing time if I hesitated, so I bought it. And the knife was the Team Gemini Light Brigade that I caught a $100 discount card for at Blade last year, so I really saved money there."

She hesitated a minute, and said, "Well, I'm glad you got it. That's better than listening to you moan about letting it get away."

However, when we got home, she went straight to her car. Where ya' going?" I asked.

"Shopping."

LOL! There was a guy on my service team who had an agreement with his wife. When he bought a new toy, she could spend that same amount of $$$ on herself or the house.
It didn't take long before they were hopelessly in debt and divorced. I see what my wife spends on clothes and makeup. I don't say a word. ;)

BTW, this thread reminds of a joke.

A man was talking to his buddy and told him that his wife's credit card was stolen. His buddy asked if he had reported it to the credit card company.
The man said, "Hell no. Whoever has it is spending way less then my wife."

Mrs Andy knows what "Busse" means on the card statement and says very little about it. We both work full time and hard, all the bills get paid and we have $$s in the bank so no need to stress the issues.

Funny you mention chickens Mike. The deal I had with my wife was every time she brings home an animal I get to buy a new gun. This worked out OK until she found out how much I paid for an AK47 after she got a $3 chicken from the feed store.

Shoes, purses, nails, hair products, lotions of every kind and odd scent, makeup and clothes... all of these are poor investments but important to her.

Knives and guns are legitimate 'investments'... and are important to me. :D

I don't gripe about her stuff and she doesn't gripe about mine...

Plus, she doesn't know the combo to my safe and has no idea how much I "invest". :D

.

You just have to break them in right.
Whenever I get another knife, I just remind my wife that she will likely enjoy the profit selling it when I'm gone. Besides, I will never be able to enjoy the life insurance on me, so I may as well enjoy my knives!..:D:thumbup:

Guns and Busse are alternate forms of money...end of story. Women spend/waste money, we diversify our financial portfolio. This is how I like to think of it...

You got to go home first, lucky she didn't punish you and make you go with her lol. My wife is cheap. I have to buy her the $$$ stuff. Looking to get her a benelli shotgun, maybe a berreta.

Hey now, some women spend money on things like knives, guns, and other essentials like booze. You just have to look harder for them :P

And MikeH, Tim and I have had that very conversation, though ours is usually followed by me bringing home some sort of new, tasty livestock. It's a win-win. Then there are those times where I intercept a knife from a box that *mysteriously* presents itself to be signed for. It's risky not being home when the Busse's land. He knows that.

Update: Guess who now has her a new car.

LOL that was one expensive hand gun! Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately, my wife has inexpensive taste. When she want something, it's cheap so when I say I want to get a new knife or gun and it's a bargain at only $550, she almost faints.
