chief stockman knives

I think they could be Rough Rider knives. They sure look like them. So they are not what I would consider high quality, but the price is right.

That emblem looks a lot like the older 'Indian Head' knives (German origin) I've seen on the 'Bay & elsewhere. Those seem to have a pretty good reputation, very similar to Eye Brand (might even be made in the same factory). If I were wanting a knife with that emblem, that's what I'd be looking at first, at the older German ones. I think newer releases of the 'Indian Head' knives might be China-made, so keep that in mind. No idea of the quality of those.

They are made in China. A very respected retailer's site shows the blades are 440C. Very surprising.

My Chief Trapper is a much nicer knife than my Rough Rider's. It's all stainless and has solid lockup. For the price they are hard to beat (IMO).

I have a Chief Trail of Tears trapper commemorative, a gift from my buddy (half Irish, half Iroquois). I did not know they were 440C, I have not really used mine.

Obviously not my photo...

Okay, I didn't get it out, I thought it was Chief cutlery, actually Cherokee cutlery, sorry.

Those older german ones are quite expensive! I'll just get a case :)
Thanks for all the responses gentlemen
