Discovering the range, I find a new "must have" every 5 minutes. Reminds me the time I was living in NYC and my parents took me to FAO Schwartz before Christmas.
Already ordered Manix
Need EDC, so was strongly chasing a calypso... and now, just discovered Lil Temp!!
At least there is a logic : leaf shape, flat ground...
Sad thing is, not part of current catalog, so hard to find and expensive.
Questions:
In your op, lil temp EDC? instead of calypso?
What price should be considered as top for lil temp?

Thank you for your input

If you are in Great Britain, how can you EDC any of them? I though there was a 'lockless' law in effect over there.

I would choose the Calypso. Are you able to handle them? You might find you have a preference that way.

Comparing the Caly Jr and the Lil T is like comparing a sports car with a family sedan. Caly Jr is shorter in both length and height, and perhaps half the thickess of the Lil T. Plus the Lil T weighs more that double what the Caly Jr. does. They're both fine knives, just as different as night and day. The only similarity is the grind, and even there, the extra millimeter of thickess takes its toll on the Lil T's slicing performance when compared with that of the Caly Jr.

At present they are paranoid, so even a lockless is frowned upon. I use knife for my work, have grown quite attached to my fingers, Leatherman Wave is legal, so you can make a case for a lock if the blade is short enough and your justification for carrying is good enough.

No, I cannot handle them. Hence my apologies to The Deacon for putting them on a par: I only have the photos to assess them, so weight and width are not taken into consideration properly. Hence my questionning those "in the know ;)

A choil or some flippers will offer decent protection on lockless knives. You're much more likely to have a smarting finger than a cut finger. Try a UKPK and see what you think.

Would one of you be able to post side by side picture, open and folded, of caly and lil T?
Light wasn't the best, and my only Lil Temp is a Trailing Point, but think they'll give you a fair idea of relative size.

First many thanks to Paul for taking both the time and these photos. Now I understand more what you meant.
I also used the link and visited your website, and feel (a lot) more informed on spydies than I was earlier this morning :D . Plus your size comparing tool is very neat. As a matter of fact, I for one would recommend at least a link to that page or an in-house version to spyderco.com (come to think of it, in-house version would probably be more...PC :D :D :D :D )

Artfully, the UKPK looks really nice. But even thought I've been 40 for the best part of the last seven years, there is still in me a spark of teenage revolt against the ambient political correctness that will make me choose a lock over a lockless, even if it means looking over a very fine knife :o.
But you never know, I may grow up one day!

Deacon, if you ever plan to sell that Caly, please spare me a thought ;) I have never seen one with a burgundy handle in this country.

André, I would not hold my breath.
If you notice the number on the blade... it's Paul and will remain Paul's IMHO...
Click on his website and go to FAQ, you'll learn like I did 2 days ago:D
However I do agree that the ZDP-189 Caly is a beauty.
