I wasn't feeling well Friday (sinus crap and headache), so, I took some sinus medicine. It sometimes makes me loopy, so, I asked willis to accompany me on the trip. He agreed, and we arrived around 10pm Friday night. We got our site setup, and got drunk. My accomodations.

I sacked out around 4am, and I got up to a beautiful morning, at 7:30am Saturday. After some green tea (thanks to willis), and some morning fire, we went fishing in El Jeffe's pond. The catfish and bluegill were bitin' pretty good. I caught about 12 bluegill and one catfish. Willis was hittin', he landed 3 lunkers, and few bluegill. All of my catches didn't add up to one of willis catfish. We had PLENTY of food, so, catch and release.

Heading back up to the campite, the natural terrain features were easy to navigate.

Back at the campsite, everyone was up, and bristling for a cool day of just chillin' out, havin' some fun, and enjoying meeting new folks.

Of course there wasn't just ESEE and BKT, there was a myriad of edged tools, that come from all walks of life.

AverageIowaGuy is making us a vid of the Uncle E, Chili Cookin'. AIG is a cool dude, with alot of interesting hobbies. Oh, and he's a doctor, so he's the ESEE Medic for the Schools now.

Many hands make for light work, everyone that wanted to "help", got a crash course in Uncle E' Campfire Cookin'.

While Ethan was busy making dinner, me and Hobo Jack, decided to have us a few contests. The first one was "Timed Water Boil, Natural Material, Ferro Rod Only"
We told the guys competing, they had to race to see who could gather materials, make their tinder, build a fire, and bring their can of water to a rollin' boil. GO!!!

More to come.

Spectators, watching the action.

1066vik had a commanding lead

Shotgunner11 was also trying his hand at it, though he wasn't in the comp.

100_2741.jpg

Things were getting interesting, Jeff had to be in the middle of it, takin' pics and talkin' shit. :D

And here's your winner, Buckles. Rolling boil, and it took 11 minutes from the word GO!!! Remember that.

Now, here's where I turn into a crappy mod. We had 2 more competitions, The Chop and the Bucksaw. I didn't get pics of that, I got busy being an anchor for the log, and the official time keeper, basically, my hands were full. Not to worry, plenty of pics were taken, and will show up, I promise. The winner in the chop was using a Condor EcoLite Machete. Choped through a 6" pine log, in 32secs.

The Bucksaw, was a timed comp to see how fast they could use a folding packsaw(4piece) to saw through a 6" log of pine. The winner came in a 24secs.

I wanted to try my hand at it, I came in a 19secs. Yeah, I'm bad. :D But since I was a judge, it was just for fun.

Then, there was Trade Blanket. I didn't take pics here, because mostly, I think its rude. Guys and gals laid out some good knives. There were some pics taken, we'll see if they show up.

I made out with a new ZT350, Spyderco ParaMilitary, CS Pocket Bushman, Ontario QuarterMaster's knife, a new Condor Mountain Knife, New Condor Golok, a new 5.11 Rush 72, a new Voodoo courier bag, an ESEE4, and an ESEE3mil. Pretty good haul. What did I have to trade for it? That's a secret.

That night, Uncle Weirdbeard served up some chili, and just kinda sat around and BS'd.

For me, Saturday night went much like Friday night, and the next morning, I was glad to see E brought his small coffee pot. :D

All in all, a great trip, I laffed, and had a blast. Got home early enough to clean up my gear, and unpack. Good way to spend a couple of days.

looks like a good time.

i'm just back from my camping tactical circus arts weekend. o m g tired :>

Cool pics. It's nice to see normal folk doing their thing instead of catalogue models. When I saw those onions and all that garlic, I knew that you were in for good eats. Please use the Condor Golok and give impressions. I've been thinking about it now and then.

OMG garlic. I wish I had friends like that (well I do, but my wife won't let me invite 'em to anything :) )

Moose,

I have that Condor Golok, your gonna love it.
Good grab on the Quartermaster, tough find now.
I gotta wonder what you had to trade to pull in such a great load of stuff though......
Gold ? ...lol

Hey Moose,
Great to hang with you over the weekend. Hope we get to go in 'the shiznit' in May. You remember that huge rescue tool you had from BK? The one you were talking about where you cut through a Dodge? I've been thinking I need to pick one of those up. I put about 22K miles on the road every year driving between clinics and just last year I was the first to arrive for 2 horrible accidents. I didn't have to extract anyone but if I did I wouldn't have had anything on me like you were describing. What was the model number? I reckon need one.

BK3, hell, wish you would have told me Doc, I had one there. That's what we used also, to extricate Patrick and Heather' carkeys out of their locked car, Sunday morning to. It works well for prying the door open far enough to get a hanger in.

Yeah, May brother, look forward to it, for damn sure. Glad ya'll made it back alright. Showers first? :D

I'm extremely jealous of you guys who live in the good ol' US!!

Immigration is your friend. We've had some cool Germans here in the US before. Einstein, was German.

So was Shiner Beer. :D

Moose!
You looking to unload that BK3? I'd buy it. Also, as it turns out the kitchen knife Ethan was using to make chili is the prototype for an ESEE/BKT collaboration. I didn't know it at the time but Jeff just told me. I'm working on the chili video now so everyone can see it in action.
