My buddy SD and I did a overnighter at our other buddy Kevin's land last night, and stayed today until dark. I didnt get alot of photos, but we both had fun, worked on some skills, and played with axes and alot of knives.

I have a new "low temp record" in my hammock...13 degrees (F) I was never really cold, but I have had much warmer nights!

SD set up his tarp with a mylar door, and slept on a thermarest.

We used an old existing fire-pit.

Bacon spam mixed with mashed taters for dinner, it got dark QUICK.

This morning, all of our water was frozen solid.

We need our coffee, so we purified some ditch water with iodine tablets. (not sick yet)

Then we cut more firewood to replace what we used from Kevin's pile, and played with our knives, axes, we taught each other some knots, and went for a hike or two.

Here is my portion of the knives for the trip. :D The Brute did the chopping, and the BK-2, and the ESEE 5 did the splitting.

Like I said not too many pics, but it was good times, like always!

Great pics. Thanks for sharing.
What sort of underquilt do you have on that hammock?

Looks like a great time Josh. Is that second blade up from the bottom a Turley?

It is a G.I. poncho liner that I put a cinch line in, and I hang it from my ridge-line with shock cord. Last night, I pinned a fleece blanket to the inside of it, for extra warmth. I slept in a zero degree bag in the hammock.

I had my eye on a SERE or a Missouri River model from Turley but he currently has a 33 month waiting list!! His stuff must be good!!...One day...

By the way nice pics Josh. Looks like a great time. I love the outdoors in late fall.
Iz makes some sweet looking blades.

Cold weather in a hammock calls for some ingenuity. A heavy space blanket/poncho liner underquilt have gotten me by at 19 degrees, but that's the coldest I've done it. Good stuff.

That's when a guy gets up to take a wiz and you have to snap the icicle off when your done.

Nice pics

I really like the strip job you did on your BK2. The TOPS BOB knife has the same kind of coating, looks pretty cool man.

I needa get me a good under quilt before I go trying anathing like that. Good onya!!!

Nice pics Josh. 13 F and no snow yet? It must be a matter of days then before its all covered in snow.

How many hours of daylight do you have in Ohio this time of year? What time does the sun rise and set?

Right now the sun is up from about 720am until 515pm...Roughly 10 hours of daylight.
