Hi guys. I've got a D.C. Munroe Chimera (Standard model) on the way to me this week. I should be receiving it on Thursday or Friday, and I can hardly wait!
Anyway, I've never even handled one of these before, and I was hoping that some of you Chimera owners could let me know how you like your Chimeras. Are they as nice as they look?
Thanks in advance for your views/advice.

Well Eric, what if I said I really didn't like mine...that it looked real good in pictures, but wasn't worth a damn as a knife...

Just kidding...I waited a long time for mine (six months). It's a nice knife, and I think Deryk is making some really great high-end art stuff. His talent is well represented in these lower line knives.

I have two. First of all, the ease of pocket carry is amazing for such a long-bladed knife. The combination of its light weight and sculpted handle makes it a pleasure to carry. There are a lot of knives that one can say this about. The difference arises when you open the blade up. As slim and as light as the handle is, it is ergonomically perfect for such large hands as my 3X mitts. Balance is perfect. And of course you have the cutting advantage of a Talonite recurve blade. Lock-up is tight. Fit and function are perfect. In the custom world, it is a bargain for the features you get. You have chosen well, my friend.

Great! You guys have me convinced that the Chimera is absolutely worth owning. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Now if only that Big Brown Truck would get here. 2-3 more days of anguished waiting. Ugh!!
I'll post my first impressions as soon as it arrives.
Thanks again for your replies, fellas!

I was glad to see Tom Mayo chime in here. I love his TNT series for a lot of the same reasons as I love the Chimera (pronounced KI-MERA). They are completely different knives in design, but both combine ease of carry with exceptional quality and functionality. Tom, Just so you know, I am sucking up big time for an XL recurve TNT

The Chimera Elite has got to be the one of the best buys.In boxing their always talking about the best pound for pound fighter.I think the Chimera is the best bang for the buck in the custom area.1st class materials and workmanship.I love the thick liner,no play in any direction. When you close the blade it just gets sucked in when its 1/2" away from the handle.Only the best made liner locks do this.

To be honest, i'm not overwhelmed by the looks, but i suspect this is one that you have to see in person....

And Robb - While this may be true for a large number of folders, i once had a $30 (AUS) POS that did exactly that
