I picked this gently used Schrade 165 OT up yesterday at the swap meet....
initial evaluation seems to indicate pretty good fit and finish. I'm aware these
are not highly regarded by most here. I will report back how it holds up to "camp"
use. I gave $20.00 which is just below current Ebay retail pricing of around $28-$30.
I do like the overall look and feel of this blade. Will now clean it up and sharpen.

I carried one of those for years before I discovered quality puukko. It is a fine knife. Good find. Are you sure it's China made? That knife has been around a very long time (as have I ).

Thanks Rich... I learned here the tang stamp on this iteration indicates China origin.
Was hoping for Schrade - Walden but no luck.

I have several Chinese Schrade knives from ~2014. The build quality is about equal to the US Scrades from late 20th century. Not collector pieces, but good users. The early Chinese Chinese Schrades were pretty poor.

Took the Lansky system to the blade.... no roll over, took a nice edge. Treated the
leather . On my belt now. Already used helping a neighbor take down a seasonal
Gazebo (canvas ties). Firmly in the honeymoon phase with this knife. :cool: Should be
a reasonably good user.

The Chinese grind at the point is different from the old ones, it seems to me. I'm still hoping to find an old one at a garage sale for a bitter divorcee price, but yours sounds good and will be fine.

There's a shopping strategy I've never considered! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:;)
Thanks for the hint!
